The Best Photo Spots in Madrid, Spain

Madrid is the center of Spain, the hub of diverse culture and, of course, shopping. I have had the chance to call Madrid home for a little while, and as a certified Instagram girl, I have curated the best places to take pictures in Madrid, for both tourists and locals. These are the places where I have had the most success, and I am sure there are others not listed. These places exude Madrid’s essence and possess their own unique characteristics.

Museo Cerralbo (C. de Ventura Rodríguez, 17, Moncloa – Aravaca, 28008 Madrid, Spain)

My favorite museum in Madrid is the Museo Cerralbo. The classical-style Palace was designed with a dual purpose, to function as both a home and a museum. Although the building has almost no natural light, these were some of my favorite photos I’ve taken in Madrid, and very few people are aware of them. Make sure you get in line at least an hour before opening, because they limit the number of people who can enter each day.

The Madrid Edition (Pl. de Celenque, 2, Centro, 28013 Madrid, Spain)

The Madrid Edition is a 5-star hotel in Madrid. It has a bar open to the public that people often visit to take photos. It is known for its modern aesthetic, the unique pool table, and the spiral stairs. Getting pictures here may be hard, as people are constantly walking around. I recommend going during the weekdays to avoid crowds. The aesthetic is still nice, so I highly recommend getting a drink here regardless.

Embarcadero de El Retiro (P.º del Estanque, 0, Retiro, 28001 Madrid, España)

One of my favorite activities in Madrid was renting a paddle boat in El Retiro. El Ritro has so many beautiful photo spots, but some of my favorites are on the paddleboat. You do have to book in advance, and I recommend booking it online. For just €6 per boat, it is the perfect picturesque activity.

Palacio de Cibeles (Retiro, 28014 Madrid, España)

This palace is so gorgeous. For the longest time, I was unaware you could go inside it. Formally known as a post office, it is now a city hall office. The Cibeles Palace is home to so many things, including a free viewpoint. I recommend taking photos in front of it rather than inside, due to the intricate details of this building.

Sabatini Garden & Campo del Moro

Right outside of Pacalio Real is the Sabatini Garden, and behind it is Camp del Moro. It is a stunning area offering the best views of the Palace, with fewer people and greenery. Many professional photographers come here to shoot photos for a good reason; it’s definitely the best part of Pacalio that people often miss.

Overall, aside from these locations, there are countless other picturesque spots, and these are just a few of my top recommendations to show Madrid’s iconic areas. Madrid is a breathtaking city, and I hope this helps all photo lovers plan their visit! These are some of my favorite places and activities in Madrid as well. If you have any suggestions for public photo-worthy sites, please feel free to share them in the comments below.
